Terms and conditions
The deal, plainly
Short, because a deal you cannot read is not a deal.
1About these terms
These terms govern your use of Rotundus Cogitans. Using the service means you accept them. They are written to be read.
2The service
Rotundus Cogitans writes philosophical dialogues with a language model and records them to audio with synthesised voices. Writing and editing are free; recording costs credits.
3Accounts
An account is needed to record audio, so your credits and recordings have somewhere to live. Keep your sign-in to yourself; what happens under your account is treated as yours.
4Credits and payment
Credits are bought in advance through Stripe. A short episode costs one credit, a full one two, a long one three. A credit is spent only after a recording is successfully made; a failed render never charges.
5Refunds and consumer guarantees
Nothing in these terms excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If the service fails in a way the ACL covers, you are entitled to the remedies it provides. Beyond that, credits are not refundable once spent on a successful recording - and an unsuccessful one never spends them.
6Your content
Your dialogues - scripts and recordings - are yours. You grant us only the licence needed to store them, show them back to you, and render them to audio. Publish them, sell them, do as you like with them.
7Our property
The programme format, the characters, their voices and the service itself remain ours. Buying credits buys recordings, not the machinery.
8Acceptable use
Do not use the voices to impersonate real people, to mislead, or to produce unlawful content, and do not attack or overload the service. We can refuse or end service for abuse.
9AI-generated content
Dialogues are machine-written and machine-voiced. They can be wrong, odd or inappropriate despite our guards. They are entertainment and thinking material, not advice of any kind.
10Availability and changes
The service is provided as available. We may change features and prices; credits already purchased keep working at the rate they were bought.
11Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to re-supplying the service or the cost of the credits involved. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Australian law.
12Ending things
You may stop using the service at any time - your downloads are already yours. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
13Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Disputes belong to Australian courts.
